Why do I need insurance?

Keeping your practice running and making sure patients are seen following a loss is essential. We can help you protect your assets, both physical and financial, with our comprehensive surgery policy.

We will replace all insured items, protect your income in the event of a loss and provide protection against actions brought against the practice.

What exactly does Practice Protector cover me for?

Property Damage
Provides cover for the surgery itself and all of your physical assets:

»  "All-Risks" including accidental damage, full theft (not just by forcible or violent means) and subsidence
»  Prescription drugs, medicines and medical supplies at your surgery, up to £10,000
»  Surgery bags, surgery equipment and medical equipment, up to £10,000
»  Loss of refrigerated drugs and medicines due to the breakdown of a refrigerator, up to £2,500
»  Cost of replacing surgery and patient records, up to £10,000
»  Unlimited glass cover
»  Up to £1,000 per person for personal effects in the surgery
»  Cover for doctors' bags is provided for anywhere in the United Kingdom, up to £2,000
»  £250 excess rising to £1,000 in respect of subsidence

Business Interruption
Cover for loss of income for your surgery following an insured loss, including extensions for:

»  Denial of access due to damage of surrounding properties
»  Accidental failure of public utilities
»  Discovery of a notifiable disease at your surgery
»  Murder or suicide at your practice

Employers Liability
Cover for partners and employees of the surgery, up to £10,000,000

Public Liability
Cover for members of the public, including your patients, up to £2,000,000 (limit of indemnity can be increased where necessary)

Money including Assault
Cover for cash, cheques and other non-negotiables:

»  Up to £250,000 for crossed cheques and other non-negotiable money
»  Cash in the surgery during opening hours and in transit, up to £5,000
»  Cash in a locked safe out of hours, up to £1,500
»  Company credit and debit cards, up to £500
»  £100 excess

Legal Expenses
Protects workers and the surgery up to £25,000 costs, any one period of insurance, for action brought by a third party.

»  Disputes regarding employment contracts
»  Property disputes
»  Prosecution defence costs.
»  Tax and VAT appeal costs following an in-depth investigation by the Inland Revenue or HM Customs & Excise

Additional Computer Cover
In addition to the cover provided by the Property Damage Section you can extend your policy to include:

»  Computer damage or breakdown caused by accidental failure of electricity or telecommunication services or by denial of access to your premises
»  The cost of reinstating software programs or data accidentally or maliciously erased
»  Increased cost of working following software erasure
»  Free legal advice from a team of qualified legal consultants on any private or commercial matter

What does it cost?

The premiums are calculated using your sums insured and should adequately reflect the contents you have in your premises. Our advisors will advise you if any other discounts are available to you and will provide a quotation the same day where possible. We monitor our prices against those available in the market and our aim is to provide you with our most competitive terms every time.

The premium applicable to your surgery will be based on the sums insured you provide and your location. It is essential that you have adequate estimates for your sums insured. it will be beneficial for you to take some time to review your surgery and how much it will cost to replace everything that your practice is responsible for.
